Class Details

Do you want to knit a pattern but your gauge isn’t quite right? Or maybe you want to make one part a bit bigger/smaller? This class will show you how to use a few simple calculations and principles to easily make adjustments with confidence. This is particularly handy when knitting garments and you want to make some changes. We will also go over things to consider when you want to make yarn substitutions (be it fiber type or yarn weight) and what you want to bear in mind when making these changes.

Technique Requirements: Knit/purl; cast on/bind off; increase/decrease; working in the round; have knit a whole garment; have knit a few accessories

Introduction To Spinning On A Spindle This class will be unavailable online

Class Details:

Learn how to spin using a Drop spindle, how to get started, spin your single, manage your fibre, make a plying bracelet and ply your yarn. We will also cover learning some of the more commonly used spinning terms and discuss the pros and cons of different fibre preps so you can get an idea of what you are looking at when purchasing fibre for spinning. Finally we will also cover how to set the twist in your yarn and measure your final yardage.

Supplies to Bring: Pen, Paper, & Calculator –  Note there is an additional material costs for this class for the spindle and fibre you will get in class to practice with and take home- this will be £15 per student.
